1
Consultation and Evaluation
The process begins with a medical consultation. A specialist examines the patient’s scalp, discusses expectations, evaluates the extent of hair loss, and checks if the person is a good candidate for the procedure. Blood tests and health history may also be reviewed.
2
Designing the Hairline
The doctor designs a natural-looking hairline based on facial structure, age, and patient preference. The number of grafts needed is estimated during this step.
3
Preparation and Anesthesia
On the day of surgery, the donor area (usually the back or sides of the scalp) is shaved. Local anesthesia is applied to both the donor and recipient areas to ensure a painless procedure.
4
Harvesting Grafts
There are two common techniques:
• FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction): Individual hair follicles are extracted using a micro-punch tool.
• FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation): A strip of skin is removed from the donor area and then dissected into follicular units.
5
Graft Preservation
Harvested grafts are stored in a special solution at a controlled temperature to maintain viability before implantation.
6
Implantation
Tiny incisions are made in the recipient area. The grafts are then implanted carefully at specific angles and density to ensure a natural look. This stage requires high precision.
7
Post-Operative Care
After the procedure, the patient receives instructions for care:
• Avoiding touching or washing the scalp for a few days.
• Using prescribed antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medication.
• Follow-up visits to monitor progress.
8
Recovery and Results
• Shedding Phase: Transplanted hair typically falls out within the first few weeks—this is normal.
• Regrowth: New hair growth starts within 3–4 months.
• Full Results: Visible results are generally seen between 9 to 12 months after the procedure.
